The lock-up dilemma: What a new industry report says about the cost of security

A recent piece in Loss Prevention Magazine put a name to a tension every retailer already feels around locked merchandise. As RILA's Khristopher Hamlin put it, “lockups introduce friction, and friction directly impacts conversion.” The article cites survey data showing more than a quarter of shoppers will abandon a purchase rather than wait for an associate to unlock a case.
The piece points to smart locks with QR code or phone based access as the emerging middle ground between full lockup and open shelves, exactly the problem Freedom Case was built to solve. Shoppers unlock the case themselves in seconds, no associate required, while the retailer keeps the deterrent value of a locked case.
Reduce purchase abandonment by empowering good customers.
