Sweep Detection and Prevention

How it Works

When an offender attempts a sweep, they remove a suspicious number of products in a short period of time. SmartSense Touch mounts to existing fixtures and detects the micro-vibrations associated with product removal. When a removal threshold is exceeded, active deterrents are deployed and optionally store associates are notified to provide service.

A single SmartSense Touch device can detect product removal from shelves or peg hooks on a 4’ by 6’ gondola.

Active Deterrence

When offenders do something suspicious, Active Deterrence turns on and offenders abandon thefts. Indyme’s Active Deterrence technology has “situational awareness”, reacting in real time to theft events in progress. Active Deterrence is designed to stop offenders at shelves and in aisles, before they commit to a theft.

Integration with SmartDome

SmartDome is a simulated dome camera equipped with a dwell detector, powerful speaker, and flashing LEDs. It deters offenders by directly responding to sweep events in progress by activating, announcing a deterrent message, and flashing it’s onboard LEDs. This simulated active surveillance immediately stops sweeps in real time.

When a Touch device detects a sweep event in progress, it triggers SmartDome to deploy a more aggressive voice down, and optionally notifies store associates or LP professionals.

LPRC Research Confirms Effectiveness

The Loss Prevention Research Council, a leading research institute out of the University of Florida, studied the effectiveness of the SmartSense Touch & SmartDome in operation at CVS. The study validated the effectiveness of the system as offenders, fearful of the Active Deterrence capabilities of the system, abandoned theft of hard to protect cosmetics.
