SAN DIEGO – Shopper engagement and loss prevention technology company Indyme Solution, LLC is rolling out a device designed to remind shoppers to practice social distancing amid the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic.

SmartDome, which looks like a dome security camera typically seen in stores, can detect people congregated in its monitored area. Upon detection, the SmartDome sends out a message saying, “For your safety, please maintain at least six feet of social distance.”

The SmartDome device is battery operated and can be installed without a technician or being attached to any wiring. It has versatile mounting options, which makes it easy to place the device in any area of the store where it is most needed.

"This health crisis demands that US technology companies rapidly innovate solutions to assist in this dynamic and evolving situation," said Joe Budano, chief executive officer of Indyme Solutions. "Our retail partners shared their health and safety challenges with us, we listened, and this simple and rapidly deployable solution promoting social distancing is the result.  In situations where adding more people to the equation would only make matters worse, technology solutions like SmartDome can save lives."

When the public health threat from COVID-19 subsides, the SmartDome can be repurposed to help reduce theft and increase customer engagement.
